New on your myPOS card machine: Split Bill and QR digital receipts

Split Bill is coming to myPOS smart terminals, and QR code digital receipts are coming to every myPOS device. Update your card machine to the latest software version to get both.

We’ve just made the checkout experience better with two new features. First comes Split Bill, which lets your staff divide one bill into several card payments on the card machine. Then there are QR digital receipts, which let customers get their receipt by scanning a code, with no paper and no need to share private details such as a phone number or email address.

You can access both features by updating your card machine to the newest version of the myPOS software. Once you have, you’ll find Split Bill in the Payment app on smart terminals, and the QR receipt option at the end of every transaction.

Split Bill: one bill, several card payments

Picture a table of six on a busy Friday night. Everyone wants to pay by card, and everyone wants to pay their own share. Until now, that meant running separate transactions by hand, working out the amounts on the spot, or leaving the group to settle up between themselves later.

Split Bill takes care of this on the card machine. Staff take the total and divide it into separate card payments, all within the Payment app they already use.

Two ways to split

  • Even Split. Divide the total equally between 2 and 20 people. The card machine calculates each share.
  • Custom Amount. Enter a specific amount for each person, for groups where people ordered differently or want to cover a particular part of the bill.

Each person then pays their share by card in turn. The card machine shows what has been paid and what is still outstanding until the bill is settled.

Nothing else changes

Tipping works inside the split, so each person can add a tip to their own payment. Operator codes work as usual. There is no extra hardware to buy.

Every payment stays linked to the same bill, and all of them show up in your myPOS account. Reconciliation works exactly as it does today.

Who it is for

Restaurants, bars and cafés will feel the difference first, since group payments are routine there and a slow checkout holds up the next table. It is just as useful for shops handling shared purchases, and for any business that regularly hears “Can we pay separately?”

Availability: myPOS smart terminals – myPOS Ultra and myPOS Flex, after updating to the latest software.

QR digital receipts: one scan and done

Printing a receipt uses paper. Sending one by SMS costs money and means asking the customer for a private detail such as a phone number or email address. QR receipts remove both problems.

How it works

After a payment, the card machine shows a QR code. The customer scans it with their phone camera and the receipt opens straight away. No phone number, no email address, no waiting.

QR codes work in any language, so the experience is the same for regulars and tourists alike. There is nothing to configure. Printed, SMS and email receipts are still there for customers who prefer them.

Why it matters

  • Lower costs. Fewer paper rolls and fewer SMS charges.
  • Faster checkout. No waiting for a printout or typing in a number.
  • Less waste. A small but real step towards cutting paper at the till.
  • Happier customers. People who would rather not share personal details still get their receipt.

Availability: all myPOS devices, including Classic Go, Go 2 and the Smart range, after updating to the latest software.

How to get them

Update your card machine to the newest version of the myPOS software. That is the only step. If you have questions about either feature, our support team is here through your usual channels.
