We turned 7! What have we learned so far?

The great Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.”
Although this might not be the perfect place to discuss Aristotle, you definitely get the picture that the first seven years in life are critical.
The same analogy can be drawn for businesses.
And as we round the corner of February with our seventh birthday in mind, it’s a good time to sit back and reflect on some of the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
There were many. But here are our top seven.
1. Being helpful is what matters in the long run
Over the past seven years, we’ve learned that what keeps you in business in the long run is not the good price of your offering or your clever and catchy marketing campaigns.
It’s how you contribute to other people’s dreams and growth by enabling them to do things they were not able to do before.
Be it through innovative products, value-added services, answering their requests or simply listening to their needs.
From the very beginning, myPOS has been all about helping businesses grow.
(And we believe so much in it, that we made it our motto!)
2. Staying agile is the only way
Have you heard the saying “if you don’t bend, you will break”?
In other words, staying too rigid and set in your terms will never let you see the changes around you and embrace them.
Staying agile enables you to find new (and maybe even better) solutions to your own challenges.
And so, we learned to learn as we go and practice perfecting our craft!
Innovation is chaotic and having an open mind and agility helps you find the right path.
Innovation means responding to and anticipating market needs.
Sometimes this means being the first to do something in your industry.
We’ve shown several firsts in our first seven years, including being the first to offer immediate deposit of all accepted payments at no extra cost, free merchant account with a business card and our innovative soft POS solution – myPOS Glass.
3. We work superbly as a team
Here’s a bet we’re willing to take: Ask any of the myPOS staff members what they feel about their team and we bet you they’ll gush and go on and on about why their team absolutely rocks!
Because we’ve proved that teamwork is dream work!
We’ve challenged and supported each other in finding new ways to expand externally and internally, to be better at what we do.
And while we’re constantly growing, we’re also consciously focusing on maintaining all our relationships with both our clients and our partners.
To date, our team consists of 270+ employees, 180+ distributors and 1,000+ agents.
Not to mention the fact that we happily serve over 100,000 merchants across Europe!
4. Focusing on inclusion is key
We also learned that being inclusive may be difficult at first but it always pays off in the long run.
By inclusion, we’re talking about our portfolio.
We’re probably the only European payments provider offering such a wide portfolio of payment acceptance products and value-added services.
From POS devices for as low as 29 EUR to Unattended devices for big integration projects, serving businesses of 1 to large retails chains, we welcome any merchant or entrepreneur who is on the lookout for new ways to expand their business.
We set no boundaries for businesses to join us, we are present in different markets and we cater to all types of merchants.
5. We learned to embrace change
Speaking of change, were you there when the year 2020 suddenly hit the world with the coronavirus pandemic? Yup.
Don’t go there, right? Wrong.
We looked at 2020 and the big changes it brought along with it as a learning curve and an opportunity to grow.
And we did.
We offered alternative solutions which were timeous and relevant, and we worked as a united team to take everything that 2020 had in store for us and beat it at its own game!
That’s why we should all pat ourselves on the back for getting through 2020 unscathed!
6. We thrive in a culture of diversity
Another lesson we learned is to enjoy and thrive in our diversity.
We have more than 10 nationalities in the myPOS team.
What’s more, we serve over 30 markets in 18 different languages.
It’s challenging to say the least, but we love it and wouldn’t have it any other way!
7. Maintaining strong relationships is a must
And a drumroll for lesson number seven please!
What did we learn? We learned that building relationships is important.
Actually no. Not important. It’s critical.
Establishing relationships may be easy, but maintaining them, keeping them alive and kicking for a long period of time is the real challenge.
This is why we pay such strong attention to our customer service.
Better onboarding. More languages to communicate to our clients. Value-added services. Referral programs.
All these show our commitment to make our customers satisfied and prove our willingness to keep our relationship going.
Every single day.
That’s all folks!
If Aristotle were alive today, he’d definitely say that myPOS would grow into a strong, mature adult with an enviable character, a focus on doing good and a sense of humor.
But Aristotle isn’t here so we’ll draw our own conclusions. All we can say after seven years in Europe is how much character we’ve built along the way.
And it wouldn’t be for our teams, partners and merchants who support us and who can rely on our support in return.
