Christo Georgiev on expanding card schemes relationships and the introduction of JCB contactless payments acceptance
Company news / 07.12.2018
Offering an innovative and efficient payment acceptance service has been our mission since the myPOS inception in 2014. And that spills in many directions – from developing the smartest POS terminal functionalities to expanding our partnerships with international and local card schemes.
One such partnership is with JCB International Co (JCBI), a major global payment brand and a leading payment card issuer and acquirer in Japan. Committed to providing responsive and high-quality service and products to all customers worldwide, currently, JCB cards are accepted globally and issued in 24 countries and territories.
Recently, the relationship between myPOS and JCB reached new heights with the rollout of JCB contactless acceptance with the myPOS service. There are three parties involved in the process – iCard is the acquirer of the transactions behind the myPOS Service, myPOS is the provider of the payment acceptance service and JCB is the card issuer.
As a result of the collaboration, JCB card owners can now pay for goods and services at European locations on contactless-enabled myPOS terminals with a contactless card or device.
Christo Georgiev, founder of iCard and myPOS, made that clear with a statement: “As payment providers, our mission is to offer innovation, affordability and wide usability for both merchant-acquiring and card-issuing services. Our partnership with JCB dates since 2004 and we feel very pleased to have contributed to the acceptance of JCB in Europe.”. And that spills in many directions – from developing the smartest POS terminal functionalities to expanding our partnerships with international and local card schemes.
“This is a significant new partnership for JCB’s advanced contactless payments solution as we look to partner with forward-thinking acquirers and PSPs to drive acceptance for cardmembers across Europe.”, says Mr. Tsuyoshi Notani, Managing Director, JCB International (Europe) Ltd. “Both iCard and myPOS are at the forefront of the industry and provide great value to merchants and consumers alike. The additional payment method this deal facilitates will create a streamlined payments experience for JCB cardmembers looking to use contactless to enhance the shopping experience.”
Mr. Georgiev is certain that the new service will help boost JCB’s global contactless reach across the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland where presently the company services 117 million JCB cardmembers.
